ANTIRACIST STATEMENT

Antiracism is “the active process of identifying and eliminating racism by changing systems, organizational structures, policies and practices and attitudes, so that power is redistributed and shared equitably” (NAC International Perspective: Women and Global Solidarity).

I design and implement pedagogies that strategically and intentionally enact antiracism for the empowerment and liberation of folx who are BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), of folx who hold minoritized identities, and of folx who have been generationally harmed by white supremacy. Whiteness and other dominant and oppressive perspectives and practices (e.g., ableism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, heteronormativity, etc.) are actively decentered in my pedagogy (Kailin, 2002). I take full responsibility and accountability in my role as change agent working to humanistically redistribute agency and power to and with my BIPOC students, in particular. In my teaching and in relationship building, I work to dismantle the oppressive neoliberal, white supremacist, patriarchal structures within educational settings and institutions. I design curricula that give students the tools and capabilities needed to revolutionize education for the liberation of us all.
